The 4 Phases of Sovereign Leadership: Excavate, Anchor, Initiate, Emanate
Mar 10, 2026
Personal growth is often talked about as if it’s a straight line:
You identify the pattern, heal the wound, learn the lesson… and then you’re done...
...but anyone who has actually done deep healing work knows that isn’t how it works...
Growth happens in both stages and phases. Your nervous system moves through cycles of excavation, stabilization, expansion, and leadership… and every time you expand, you’re putting in the reps that allow the next level to actually feel safe in your body.
The problem is that most people don’t realize when they’ve moved from one phase into another, so they keep doing the same type of work long after they’ve outgrown it.
I didn’t understand this for years...
I was the most self-aware person I knew. I was constantly doing deep healing work, translating signs from the universe, connecting dots no one else could see, doing subconscious reprogramming, somatic work, and even breaking soul contracts that had me replaying the same patterns over and over.
It was intense work, and I stayed in it for over 5 years.
And, for a really long time I held onto the story that I would never be healed enough. I didn’t consciously realize it was happening, but I had taken on the identity of “a healer” to the point where I didn’t know who I was if there was nothing left to heal.
So I kept digging and digging… looking for more, convincing myself there had to be another wound to heal before I was “ready” for my next level of success and visibility.
Eventually it almost broke me. I slipped back into expecting the worst, waiting for collapse after every good thing, and feeling like I had to constantly be “doing the work” to feel safe.
Finally, I had to ask myself… Wasn’t “healing” supposed to make you feel better? 🤔
I realized the reason I was stuck wasn’t because I had more to heal… it was because I’d made an entire identity out of one phase of growth. At the time, I didn’t even know there were others.
Half a decade later, after fully breaking this identity, here’s what I know:
The Four Phases of Sovereign Leadership
There are phases to sovereign leadership: Excavate, Anchor, Initiate, and Emanate (plus Unawareness, but if you’re here reading this, you’re not there anymore).
And the biggest trap is staying in one phase longer than you’re meant to.
Every phase of growth activates different layers of your system.
This is where the 5 Planes of Transformation come in.
If you haven’t read that article yet, it explains how transformation happens across the spiritual, energetic, emotional, logical, and physical layers of your life.
Each phase of leadership shows up differently across those planes, which is why the same phase can feel completely different depending on where your system is stabilizing.
Let’s look at what each phase actually looks like:
The Excavate Phase
This phase is 100% necessary. It’s where you pull the weeds: digging up old patterns, contracts, & conditioning that aren’t meant to come with you.
Spiritually: you release outdated soul agreements & open space for new alignment.
Energetically: you cut cords, clear distortions, and reset your field.
Emotionally: you process grief, anger, shame… whatever’s been stored
Logically: you reframe the beliefs that were keeping you small.
Physically: you change environments, routines, & habits that keep you in the old story.
Signs the excavate phase has become your identity (even though you’re really ready to move on): you’re addicted to breakthroughs but avoid fully committing to building and selling anything new, you’re uncomfortable when things feel “too good,” and you only completely trust yourself when you’re “deep in the work.”
The Anchor Phase
This phase isn’t flashy. It’s where you find your power in the pause… where it looks like nothing is happening, but you’re growing roots and becoming unshakable. You no longer identify as someone who has healing work to do.
Spiritually: you deepen your trust in your path without needing constant signs that you’re aligned.
Energetically: you stabilize your frequency so the old patterns can’t pull you back.
Emotionally: you normalize safety, joy, & neutrality.
Logically: you start making decisions from clarity instead of just reacting.
Physically: you care for your body & environment like they’re already supporting the life you’re building.
Signs you’re over-identifying with the anchor phase: you’re avoiding action because you “don’t feel ready yet,” you tell yourself you’re still integrating months later, and you use stability as a reason to hide.
The Initiate Phase
This phase is your forward motion. It’s where you start living as the person you’ve been becoming. Leading, creating, and making visible moves from your new baseline.
Spiritually: you embody your mission without needing to prove it
Energetically: you hold your field even in expansion.
Emotionally: you lead with self-trust instead of approval-seeking.
Logically: you build and execute the plans that match your next level.
Physically: you move, speak, and show up like the leader you already are.
Once you’re here, you’ll still have micro-healings to do, but it’s no longer a deep excavation… It’s a mini-excavate-and-anchor that takes a day instead of weeks or months to process.
The Emanate Phase
This is the phase of overflow. It’s not about over-efforting or proving… it’s about transmitting who you are so clearly that opportunities, clients, and resources begin to find you. This is where leadership feels effortless because your field is stable, your identity is locked, and your presence itself becomes the strategy.
Spiritually: you radiate your frequency and naturally attract those who are aligned with your mission.
Energetically: you expand without leaking or collapsing, holding more than ever with ease.
Emotionally: you experience joy, peace, and fulfillment as your new baseline.
Logically: you innovate, teach, and vision from clarity instead of survival.
Physically: your external reality reflects and supports everything you’ve anchored internally.
Signs you’re here: people start saying things like, “I don’t even know what it is about you, but I need to be in your world.” You create less, but it lands more powerfully. Your leadership becomes your legacy work.
THE KEY: 🔑
You have to consciously choose to end each phase… to step into a completely new identity - across all 5 planes. Every phase is an identity, and if you don’t consciously end one, you’ll keep living from it even when you’ve outgrown it.
Understanding these phases changes how you interpret your own growth.
Instead of assuming you’re failing or going backwards, you start recognizing when your system is transitioning into a new level of leadership.
Each phase has a purpose, but staying in one longer than you’re meant to can quietly limit the next level that’s trying to emerge.
Once you know which phase you’re in, the next step becomes much clearer.
I created a quiz that will tell you exactly which phase you’re in right now. Once you know, you’ll finally understand why certain patterns & behaviors keep showing up for you. ❤️
